Body painting is a general art in the makeup industry, and artists’ unique and creative ideas can be expressed. In this study, to make diverse painting expressions esthetically rich, three Marc Chagall paintings were fabricated using the art-in-art design. The study results found the following: First, diverse motives can be expressed through the artistic expression of body painting, using painting techniques after taking the human body as canvas. Second, Marc Chagall’s works reveal unique colors and changes in the times. In addition, they were good enough to be used for art-in-art design as painting expressions of the characteristics of his works in the era. In terms of clear black-and-white configuration and use of color, in other words, it became possible to express body painting with lyric works after arranging shapes and colors irrationally and expressing a psychological state in addition to harmony with region and architecture from the Middle Ages in the geometric configuration of circles, triangles and squares which are found in Jacob’s Dream, Cubists’ Landscape, Illusion and other works. Third, based on the theories of painting expression, the characteristics of the works from different ages were expressed on the human body after classifying them into linear, plane, configurative and geometric and color expression. As a result, modern formative senses and flexible forms were expressed. It is expected that body painting will further grow and evolve as an art genre through art-in-art design based on its infinite growth possibilities as an applied art field.
