The purpose of this research is to closely examine a mental state related to appearance with the target of college women who experienced a behavior for seeking appearance improvement, such as cosmetic surgery and weight control, etc. The present research has introduced a qualitative research method in order to overcome limitations of the qualitative research and grasp various aspects of persons for seeking appearance improvement. As a research result of a behavior for seeking appearance improvement, it could be known that because the seeker's life attitude is positively changed and the seeker can do active self-expression, there is a positive aspect that is helpful in improvement of life quality. However, it could be known that the increase of the interest in beauty according to change of a beauty standard also becomes a reason of another stress by further strengthening of desire for seeking appearance improvement.
