The present study aims to explain if there are differences between seasonal image colors and nail art color preferences, if there are colors suited for the characteristics of hands, and if nail art techniques differ depending on the season.
The survey was conducted on clients living in Gwangju with the age ranging from their 10s to 40s focusing on the client characteristics and preferences of nail art colors and techniques in accordance with their physical traits (hand shape and skin color). The first-round survey consisted of seven questions about personal characteristics, and the second-round interview consisted of 11 questions about the preferences of nail art colors and techniques. As a result, the preferred colors in spring were white, red and purple. The nail colors preferred in summer were orange, white, and green as well as bluish green. The nail colors preferred in winter are purple, bluish green, and navy blue. As for nail art techniques, one-color, two-tone, and gradation techniques were most preferred throughout four seasons, and air brush technique was also highly preferred.
