Crises in Korean Christianity can be studied from a sociocultural perspective or in relation to problems with sermons or evangelism. However, they can also be investigated in terms of non-Christian thoughts on Christianity. In this vein, this study aims at exploring roles of pastoral counseling required for Christians to empathize with and understand non-Christians. In my qualitative research, the non-Christian participants expected or even acknowledged distinctions between Christians and non-Christians. At the same time, they were also disappointed at many Christians' selfishness and disapproving behaviors and attitudes, which in their thought should be found mostly in non-Christians. Therefore, we should help Christians through pastoral counseling to establish firm Christian values that reveal the Christian culture as different from the non-Christian one. One of the conclusions drawn from the participants' responses is that the gospel should be propagated through relationships, which, in turn, shows the necessity for pastoral counseling because it can give Christians opportunities to have one-to-one intimate relationships with non-Christians and then introduce them to the Gospel. Some of the participants, after listening several times to sermons in churches, expressed that they did not understand them at all. Thus, in this paper, I assert the necessity of counseling-style sermons as an alternative way to overcome the present sermonic crises. The aforementioned participants felt uneasy owing to the unknown Christian values and cultural differences they experienced. In this respect, a psychological viewpoint lets us know the need of the new believers to interact with others who understand these difficulties in their minds. Pastoral counseling is a useful method to educate and train Christians to understand theoretically and experience practically the human inner psychic world. If these trained Christians have relationships with new believers, the latter can take root more easily in the church.

한국 기독교 위기를 비기독교인들 당사자의 기독교 인식에서 찾아볼 필요가 있다. 기독교 위기의 원인에 대한 연구를 사회 문화적인 관점으로 보거나 교회 자체의 설교나 전도방법에서 찾는데 머물지 않고 비기독교인들 당사자에서 찾아야 한다. 그리하여 그들의 삶과 마음을 어떻게 공감하고 공유하여 비신자들을 대해야 하는지에 대한 목회상담의 역할이 무엇인지 탐구할 필요가 있다. 본 연구에서 청년 비신자의 기독교 경험연구의 참여자들은 교회를 세상과는 다른 독특성을 인정하고 기대하고 있으면서도 세상을 등지고 교인들끼리 이기적인 모습을 보이거나 세상과 다를 바 없는 부정적인 모습을 보이는 것에는 실망하고 있다. 목회상담에서는 그들에게 세상 문화와 다른 기독교 문화를 결정하는 가치관을 형성하도록 도와야 한다. 또한 연구 참여자들의 진술에서도 명확해진 결론은 앞으로의 전도방법은 관계전도라는 것이다. 이러한 결론에서 목회상담의 필요성은 충분히 설명되어진다. 상담을 통한 일대일의 접촉은 체계적이고 깊이 있게 그들과 소통하여 기독교 인식의 전환을 가져올 기회인 것이다. 교회를 경험한 참가자들은 몇 번 설교를 들었으나 그 의미를 전혀 알지 못하고 있음을 진술하고 있다. 이러한 설교의 위기를 극복하기 위한 대안으로 상담설교의 필요성을 제안하였다. 이들은 교회를 처음 나왔으나, 자신들이 알지 못하는 가치관과 문화의 차이로 인해 불안을 느낀다. 이러한 심리적 이해에서 볼 때 기독교를 처음 경험한 사람들에게는 적절한 대상이 필요하다는 것을 알 수 있다.목회상담은 인간 내면의 심리를 잘 이해하고 또한 훈련을 받는다. 목회상담자들이 교회에서 바람직한 대상으로 활동하게 된다면 비신자들이 교회에 왔을 때 교회 정착이 훨씬 높아 질 것이다.
