The old Reformed reformers hear the very voice of God from the Scriptures. According to them, the content of the gospel is the declaration of God’s will toward us that has taken place in Christ and our recon - ciliation with God that has been completed in Christ. Over against Roman Catholicism 16th century, they asserted that human doctrines and traditions are of no use for salvation, except this gospel. And They passionately appealed to truth and authority and salvation as they were exclusively contained in the Bible. They were expected not only to understand the Scriptures laid before them as their radical norm and rule, but to teach lay people what they do. Thus, the Reformed church believes that truth is contained only in the word of God, that is written only in the Old and New Testaments, and that every doctrine must therefore be measured against an unchangeable and impassable standard discoverable in the Scriptures. This principle of conformity with the Scriptures has been called the formal principle of the Reformation, that is, the scriptural principle. The churches which belong to protestant reformation tradition will be classified with three types, that is, the Lutheran Church, the Reformed Church, and the Methodist Church. These Churches own jointly the scriptural principle, including the basic doctrines of Christian belief. However, this principle has been achieved consistently by only the Reformed Church. According to Karl Barth, the scriptural principle is the article upon which the church stands and falls. In the Reformed confession, the scriptural principle is not just a statement among many, but rather t h e statement that generates the entire confession. All the Reformed Theology are established on the basis of the scriptural principle. Therefore, in the true sense there is no such a thing as Reformed doctrine, except the timeless appeal to the Bible and to the Spirit which from it speaks to us. For this reason, the doctrinal task of Reformed church is to work out not so much a scheme of right teaching as a statement of what we have learned, not so much a doctrina so a didache. The specific content of the Reformed theology lies in its relation to the Word of God spoken in the Scriptures.
