The purpose of this study is to be a preliminary study on the turks islamics. It is well known that the islamization of the turkic peoples began at 8th century throughout the occupation of Arab and the efforts of sogdian merchants and sufi leaders. As a result, the first islamic dynasty of turks, the Karakhanid,, came into being. But the problem regarding the islamization of the turkic peoples is very a difficult one to be solved. In my opinion, the microscopic study should be pursued without taking a broad view regarding the problem. The islam of turkic peoples can be divided into orthodox islam and heterodox islam. Orthodox islam means sunni islam. Since the establishment of Karakhanid dynasty, orthodox islam has been developed. At that time the ottoman empire was the zenith of its power. Heterodox islam means mystic islam that has the syncretic characteristics. If we look at various patterns of the islam of turkic peoples more precisely, it could be categorized into three patterns, namley, popular islam, madrasa islam and official islam. Popular islam which western society calls everyday islam or unofficial islam, has mystic characteristics. Madrasah islam of turkic peoples began at the time of Saljuk dynasty and culminated at the time of Ottoman empire. Official Islam has been the zenith of power at the time of Ottoman empire after the conquest of Mamluk dynasty by her. Since that time, sultan of Ottoman empire made good use of the caliphate against the europe until 19th century.
