This study investigates L2 acquisition of Korean collocations. Korean-asa-foreign-language (KFL) learners’ knowledge of Korean collocations with [verb + noun]1) structure was measured with an acceptability judgment task. The experimental data from a total of 52 KFL learners and 14native controls revealed (i) that L2 learners’ knowledge of collocations developed with overall L2 oral proficiency, (ii) that L1-L2 matching collocations were easier than non-matching collocations and (iii) that heritage speakers were more competent than L2 learners with the same level of oral proficiency in their command of collocations in L2 Korean.
Implications were discussed in relation to previous findings on L2collocations as well as differences between heritage speakers and L2learners.
