This study aims to analyse girl’s textbooks which had been used in schools during the period from 1896~1910. The urgent demand of that period was the development of national power and children’s education for nation’s future against Japanese invasion. At that time, women’s education were focused on producing wise mother and good wives in the modern sense in order to raise their children. The newspapers and magazines in that period claimed that women, as the civilized citizen, had to be educated as well as men because they had duty to raise their children(especially boys) well. And they, as the one of the traditional family, also had to obey their husband and family-in-laws and keep the house well. Men’s voice of the newspapers and magazines in that period wanted ‘the super woman’. On the other hand, women in the country stayed uneducated and uncivilized, thought their lives miserable. So they themselves wrote their resentment that they couldn’t be educated and they wished to go to cities and go to school in ‘Kyubang-Gasa’. While education for women had been emphasized for empowering the nation in 1896~1910, educational practices especially textbooks remained within marked boundaries of confucian virtuous women. but at some point like Man and woman are equal “Women also must be educated” Like daughter-in-law, mother-in-law has to concern her daughter-in-law. Women also has god-given human right and freedom’. Ultimately the newspapers and magazines in that period which had men’s voice claimed the new side of the women’s education, ‘Kyubang-Gasa’ which had women’s voice showed the old side of women’s life. Educational textbooks especially focused on ethics represented the both side of women's life and education.
