This study argues the importance of sentence writing for Korean language learners with academic purposes, and points out the problems of learners’sentence writing through diagnostic tests. Based on the problems identified,we propose a sentence structure education focusing on the use of verbs for an effective sentence writing education. The results of the diagnostic tests,showed a low percentage of correct answers, even in cases of questions with a low level of difficulty. The learners were divided into three groups: two experimental groups and one control group. The experimental groups were treated with form-focused instruction such as input enhancement and consciousness-raising. The results proved that the test score of the consciousness-raising treatment group increased more than that of input enhancement treatment group, but it was not significant.
