本研究は、コリョサラムの祖先を持った在日旧ソ連女性移住者におけるエスニック・アイデンティティの変容プロセスを考察している。本論は筆者が行った在日ロシア人女性移住者50名を対象としたフィールドワークを出発点として、19世紀末にロシアに移住した朝鮮半島の出身者の子孫である日本在住の2人の女性のナラティブに注目している。本稿で説明されるコリョサラムというエスニックグループの当初の移住の複雑な歴史的背景、その後の中央アジアへの強制移住、ロシアへの再移住は、ロシアに残った者や、筆者が扱う対象者のように更に日本に移った者を含むその次の世代の日常にまで影響を及ぼす共通の経験を形成する。本研究は、エスニック・アイデンティティの流動的な性質を想定として、その多様な要素は移住等のような外的な変化により強化もしくは軽減されることができると論拠し、ロシアから日本に移住したコリョサラムにとって家族関係や食文化が、彼女達の自己認識の社会文化的な資本を構成すると確認した。また、日本においてコリョサラムであることは、対象者の態度や姿勢により、制限的もしくは開放的な機能を持ち、結果として、個人の選択肢やライフスタイルをそれぞれ限定または増進させる、というプロセスを本論で明確にした。
