This paper is an attempt to reprsent, even if partially, the immigration movement of Japanese people to Gyeongju-eup during the Japanese colonial period by microscopically tracing the development process of the propagation facility that Nishi Honganji Sect (西本願寺派, Western Temple of the Primal Vow Sect) of Jodo Shinshu (淨土眞宗, True School of the Pure Land) established in Gyeongju-eup during the Japanese colonial period through examination of the few materials available on this period.
Said propagation center was the base of activity for Shibata Dankuro (柴田團九郞) and Moroga Hideo (諸鹿央雄), two influential Japanese of the region who supported the Survey on Gyeongju Historic Sites led by the Japanese Government-General of Joseon from behind the scenes.
In order to conduct an in-depth study of the Survey on Gyeongju Historic Sites, an inquiry into the relationship between the Survey on Gyeongju Historic Sites and Gyeongju society should be made, which makes an examination of Nishi Honganji Sect's propagation facility in Gyeongju an absolute necessity.
