Cultural Intervention by the Soviet Union toward North Korea during the Korean War: Focus on Russian DataSince withdrawal of troops, Soviet Union's direct intervention through its military command was reduced but its cultural intervention toward North Korea was expanded, which continued during the Korean War. Since the Korea Liberation, Soviet Union’s ideology and culture have made great influence over the establishment of North Korean regime. To that end, the Soviet Union utilized the Culture Center, Chosun-Soviet Union Cultural Association, and the Soviet Shinbo in North Korea, thus exercising diverse cultural influence over the country.Soviet Union’s influence particularly in the field of culture over North Korea continued despite the Korean War. Even during the Korean War, a variety of projects to spread Soviet Union’s culture and propaganda for its ideology done through the Culture Center, Chosun-Soviet Union Cultural Association, as well as the Soviet Shinbo was developed in North Korea. These projects continued and expanded in a prompt manner in line with the North Korean invasion to South Korea.These mean Soviet Union’s dominant influence toward the North through its cultural apparatus, as well as for the purpose of spreading its socialist culture during the formation of North Korean regime.
