Seventy-one items of the Paren-child Relationship Disorder Scale consisting of a five-point rating for each item were generated from the results of a pilot study and the theoretical variables were determined. One thousand questionnaires were distributed to the parents who had newborn babies and up to 3-year-old children in daycare centers or other related organizations. Seven hundred and thirteen respondents were included in the research. To ensure construct validity, principal axis factor analysis was undertaken and oblique rotation was employed. To decide on the factors, the Eigen value, the cumulative percentage of variance, scree test, communality, and interpretability were used. Sixty-five of the items were extracted considering four factors: over-involved 1 (angry/hostile type), over-involved 2 (anxious/tense type), under-involved (inhibiting type), and parents' perceptions of their own childhood experiences. The correlation coefficients between and within factors suggest that there are positive relationships. The reliability of total scales through the use of Cronbach's alpha was relatively high. To have predictive validity, correlation coefficients were developed with the K-BASC and the Scale for Identification of Mental Health and Developmental Disorders in Newborn- to Three-year-old Children.
