The purpose of this study is to analyze meaning of migration in writers' life and texts in modern literary history. In modern korean history, the writer as intellectuals is existed as representative of public good. In the colonial period, however, they actually could not reveal their identity due to Japanese forceful colonial rule. At the time, strictly speaking, writer had to release resistent willingness against Japan in abroad. So writers were represented to change of thoughts, maintain of thoughts, and curve of thoughts through migration to abroad. I argue it can be called ‘conversion.’ The thoughts are related things in korean reality, and so-called, that is connected with people's life, hunger, famine, drought, flood, and disaster in those days. These things brought people and writers to move abroad. Migration is important theme in modern korean literary history. Because of experience of migration in Japanese colonial period, I argue writers had some motivation to change, maintain, and curve their thoughts themselves. Throughout migration, they, in fact, revealed thoughts changed, maintained, and curved. The fact means possibilities that the strong convictions of each person can be reversed or at least diverted for the deeds of migration.
