The purpose of this study was to examine the moderating effects of parenting attitudes on the relationship between children's after-school self-care and school adjustment. Data from the Korean Child-Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2010 were used. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s α, MANOVA, and two-way ANOVA with SPSS 20.0. The major findings were as follows: 1) There were significant differences in some sociodemographic variables: the family structure, the parental structure, the ages of the parents, the education level of the father, the mother's job, the mother's working hours, and the average monthly household income. 2) There were differences in self-care type. The adult care group was higher school adjustment than those of the temporary self-care and continuous self-care group. 3) There were moderating effects of parenting attitudes on the relationship between the self-care type and the degree of school adjustment. For the parents in the low monitoring group, the children in the continuous self-care group were maladaptive in school. Despite of adult care children, the adaptation of relationship was not good if the level of the parental reasonable explanation was low.
