Today researchers and student, teachers all are confused to call differently the name of genre between the Gajeon(假傳, personified allegorical biography) in Korye dynasty and Cheongun(天君) type works in Choseon dynasty. Especially Cheongun-Jeon(天君傳)’s genre could not classified an appropriate agreement of Gajeon and novel(narrative). It is real that it is called differently by ‘Gajeon’, ‘Gajeon-cheo(假傳體)’, ‘Simseong-gajeon(心性假傳)’, ‘Gajeon-cheo novel(가전체 소설)’ etc. Therefore this study debated about the question of genre of Cheongun-jeon through analyzing narrative structure and composition by comparing with Gajeon work Guksun-Jeon(麴醇傳) in Korye dynasty and with another genre’s work Suseong-Ji(愁城誌) in Choseon dynasty. Cheongun-Jeon conforms with general Gajeon’s form such as introduction to character, but we can confirm novel’s quality in its composition such as oppositional configuration of characters, construction aspect of conflict, consequential development of event etc. These characteristics is similar with Suseong-Ji by Im Je(林悌) in 16th century. Therefore we can understand that Cheongun-Jeon is close to the narrative genre(novel). Then, we need to indicate Cheongun-Jeon as a novel, one sub-genre of narrative. And we should consider of personifying things strongly, when we want to define the genre name. Therefore, I suggest to use the name of genre ‘Euiin-cheo novel(擬人體小說)’, instead of avoiding the name of genre such as ‘Gajeon’, ‘Gajeon-cheo’, and ‘Gajeon-cheo novel’, given the existing confusion to learners. However, if it do not get a unified consensus in concern with the nature of Cheongun-Jeon and genre regulatory issues, because of the difference of point of view among researchers, it need to inform honestly about those issues for the learners. It is not important to know the genre theory itself, but necessary to understand the possibility of multiple interpretations of Cheongun-Jeon. In literary education, it needs to be made in a way that learners and teachers can rethink the value and significance of genre education.
