This study is aimed to explore and draw out effective ways to make and implement instructional design strategies for e-learning based literature class in higher education where the use of e-learning is ever increasing. The research model was developed while taking into account key factors that are considered to influence the e-learning instructional design such as academic characteristics of literature education, learner characteristics, e-learning components, and the core competences of university students, and the research data was collected through literature reviews, expert surveys, interviews, and group meetings and analyzed based on the model. According to the research result, effective e-learning content design strategies in the literature class were presentation, demonstration, reading, and instructor-led storytelling while effective design strategies for learning activities were discussion, exploring, research activity, and learner-led storytelling. Specific implementation methods for each strategy were suggested. Lastly, implications to realistically apply the e-learning instructional design strategies and implementation methods, drawn from the research, to the field were discussed.
