Prediction Model on the Psychological Outcomes in Battered Women Sohn, Jung Nam1)․Cha, Bo Kyoung2) 1) Associate Professor, Department of Nursing, Hanseo University 2) Associate Professor, Department of Nursing, Hanseo University Purpose: This study was designed to construct a structural model for explaining psychological outcomes in battered women. Method: Data were collected by questionnaires from 261 battered women. Data analysis was done with SPSS for descriptive statistics and a PC-LISREL Program for Covariance structural analysis. Result: According to modified model, mild physical violence had a significant direct effect on anger, social support, marital stability, and helplessness. Social support had a significant direct effect on self esteem, depression and suicidal risk. Marital stability had a significant direct effect on helplessness and depression. Anger expression method had a significant direct effect on social support, marital stability, self esteem, helplessness, depression, and suicidal risk. Self esteem had a significant direct effect on helplessness and suicidal risk. Helplessness had a significant direct effect on depression and suicidal risk. Depression had a significant direct effect on suicidal risk. Conclusion: The derived model is considered appropriate for explaining and predicting psychological outcomes in battered women.
