IT industry is future-driving industry for Korea. IT industry is the core strength realizing trade surplus, and every country commits their best efforts into the growth of the industry. Korea recorded 105.7 billion dollars export in IT industry, yielding trade surplus of 60.0 billion dollars as of the end of 2014. Meantime, China is top country for both export and import in Korea, and has become strong competitor in every field of IT industry. Therefore, this study aims to overview the status quo of IT industry and to analyze the export competitiveness of Korean IT industry in China market. This paper provided a statistical review of IT industry data from K-stat. Using of MSI, TSI, MCA index, and EBI, it analysed export competitiveness of IT industry to China from 2008 to 2014. To sum up the results, the MSI of Korean IT industry has been increasing every year and recorded 19.69% in 2014, TSI and RCA, and ESI have competitive advantages for IT industry export in China market. To maintain export competitiveness of IT industry, Korea shall provide innovative measures to diversify items to export. Also, Korean IT industry should reinforce core spare parts and the global specification system, upgrade industrial structures focusing on high-class technologies. Furthermore, Korea should pay attention to technological improvement through more investment to the original technology.
