The purpose of this paper is to make some practical suggestions for mission of christian university based on studies of christian education and korean muticultural society.
Today, korean society is going through rapid changes including multiculturalization. In this situation, policies about multiculture that are made and enforced by korean government have been criticized.
The reason is that these policies are based on patriarchal monoculture and keeping pressure one-sided assimilation. As a matter of fact,government-leading policies have excluded immigrants who would be considered most and stood by and watched their poor and needy lives.
It is meaningful to study for multiculturalization, multicultural education and mission of christian university in korean society.
Especially, studies for multicultural education as educational thought and practice suggests, 1) necessity of awareness for various communities(culture, ethnic, race, gender, class etc.), 2) importance of interactive relationship(tolerance, concern, respect, responsibility),3) values of cultural diversity.
This study has been explored for multiculturalization in korean society and multicultural issues in universities, history and concept of multicultural education, and christian educational approaches for mission of christian university. Also, suggests, 1) combination of discipleship and citizenship, 2) recovery and formation of faith community 3) renew whole-person education.
