리더십에 대한 이야기가 유행처럼 번지고 있다. 그러나 공동체에 대 해 희망 찬 비전을 제시하고 공동체의 구성원을 섬기는 진정한 지도자 를 찾는 것은 쉽지 않다. 리더가 되는 것 자체가 중요한 것이 아니고 올바른 리더십을 갖춘 제대로 된 리더를 세우는 것이 더 중요하다. 여 러 대학들이 리더십과 관련한 프로그램들을 운영하고 있다. 연세대학 교 역시 기독학생 리더십 아카데미를 통해서 학생들에게 기독교적 리 더십에 도전하고 있다. 연세대학교 기독학생 리더십 아카데미는, 첫째는 리더십 프로그램에 기독교적인 정체성을 철저히 반영해야 한다는 인식, 둘째는 최초의 기 독교대학이자 대표적인 기독교대학으로서 리더십 프로그램의 모델을 다른 대학들에 제시해야 한다는 책임감의 인식, 셋째는 학생들의 관심 을 리더십 프로그램에 반영해야 한다는 인식 등으로 출발했다. 연세대학교 기독학생 리더십 아카데미는, 계절제 수업으로 개설한 3박 4일의 리더십 캠프, 프레시맨 세미나의 일환으로 개설한 리더십 입문과정, 주니어 세미나로 개설한 리더십 전문과정, 그리고 계절제 수 업으로 개설한 인턴과정으로 구성되어 있다. 각각 1학점의 과목으로 학점으로는 패스(Pass) 또는 넌패스(Non-Pass)의 학점을 부과하고 있고, 네 과정을 모두 마친 학생에게는 리더십 아카데미 수료증을 수여한다. 연세 기독학생 리더십 아카데미의 차별성은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연세 대학교 내의 기독학생을 주 대상으로 설정하고 진행하기 때문에 기독 교적인 정체성을 토대로 기독교적 리더를 용이하게 배출할 수 있다. 둘째, 수업의 일환으로 진행하고, 모든 과정을 수료한 학생에게 리더십 아카데미 수료증을 수여하기 때문에 학생들의 관심을 충족시킬 수 있 다. 셋째는, 리더십 캠프는 교목들이 공동으로 관리하고, 리더십 입문 과정과 리더십 전문과정, 그리고 리더십 인턴과정은 교목들 각자의 전 문분야와 관심에 따라서 개별적으로 개설할 수 있기 때문에 학생들에 게 선택의 기회를 넓힐 수 있다. 넷째는, 연세대학교 내에서 캠퍼스 선교를 위해 사역하는 헌신된 간사들을 리더십 아카데미의 스태프로 활용할 수 있기 때문에 캠퍼스 선교의 활성화에 기여할 수 있다. 연세 기독학생 리더십 아카데미는 예수 그리스도를 모든 리더 중의 진정한 리더, 주님(Lord)으로 고백하고, 예수 그리스도의 언행일치와 섬김, 그리고 자기희생의 리더십을 리더십의 원형으로 삼고자 한다. 또 한 연세 기독학생 리더십 아카데미는 연세의 설립자 언더우드의 삶과 가르침에서 비롯된 리더십의 덕목들을 학생들이 자신의 삶에 체화하도 록 도전한다. 그렇게 함으로써 우리 삶의 자리, 세상을 건강하게 유지 하고 변혁시키고자 한다.

The talk about leadership has been spreading like a fashion trend. However, finding a true leader who serves the people and offers an aspiring vision for a community is hard to find. The important issue is not a leader but raising up leaders who have what it takes to be a truly righteous leader. As many universities are running different leadership programs, Yonsei is also looking to challenge and raise up students to become Christian leaders through the leadership academy. Yonsei Christian Student Leadership Academy recognizes and is founded upon three major notions. First, the program has to be faithful to reflect its Christian identity. Second, Yonsei, as a representative of Christian universities, must carry the responsibility to create a model leadership program for other universities to follow. Lastly, the students’ interests must be reflected in the program. Yonsei Christian leadership Academy consists of a four-day leadership camp, offered during the summer semester, a freshmen seminar course as an introduction course on leadership, an intensive course on leadership and an internship program, once again offered during the summer/winter semesters. Each course is a one-credit course, and will be graded on a pass/non pass system. When students complete the four courses above, they will be given a certificate of leadership academy. Yonsei Christian Students Leadership Academy is unique because of four reasons. First, the program targets Christian students within Yonsei University, which allows the program to stay true to its Christian identity and can easily raise up Christian leaders based on its beliefs. Secondly, this program meets the need of students because this is offered in the form of courses and students receive the certificates upon the completion of the courses. Thirdly, the leadership camp and internship program will be jointly supervised by the chaplains and the seminar courses will be taught by the chaplains according to their personal focus and interests, giving students a wider variety of course selection. Fourthly, staff members committed to campus mission within the campus are available to help and take part in the leadership academy, which could be a chance to further promote campus mission. Yonsei Christian Student Leadership Academy will be modeled after the leadership of Jesus Christ, the Lord and the leader of all leaders, whose words and actions were in agreement with each other, who served and sacrificed himself as the ultimate leader. In addition, the leadership academy will develop the leadership principles adopted from the life and teachings of Underwood, the founder of Yonsei University, for the students to follow and apply to their own lives. As a result, we want to maintain our positions in keeping this world healthy and further on to bring change.
