In the wake of informatization era cyberspace has spurred socio‐political changes. In the springs of Middle East, the US election of 2008 and 2012, internet and social network services (SNS) have profound impact. Korea is no exception. In the presidential election of 2002, widespread mass protests prompted by the Korea‐U.S. Free Trade Agreement negotiations of 2008, and the Seoul Mayoral race of 2011, it is widely believed that cyber space played a pivotal role. Advent and development of informatization changed Korea’s political environment. Informatization created a new communication constellation, encouraged political participation of younger generation, affected existing political actors as well. All these deserve to be called as a change in the Korean politics. This study will examine the way internet and SNS affect socio‐political changes in Korea and put Thai politics into the same perspective, whose informatization is one step behind Korea. It is of significance to examine Korea’s case in which informatization is believed as a contributing factor to socio‐political changes and forecast the future of Thai politics by applying such factors and context in Thailand.
