Yemen is one of the most notorious places for hideouts of the international terrorist groups because of its geographical advantages. In Yemen, several terror attacks on Koreans and Korean oil pipeline have occurred. It has not been clearly proved that who is behind this terror. However, Al-Qaeda has been pointed as a prime suspect. This paper analyzed the details of activities of Al-Qaeda and the purpose of the terror and the cause of terror against Koreans.
Recently, even though the number of tourists in the Middle East has increased, information about hazard areas in this region is not sufficient. That is one of the reasons Koreans became a target of terrorism. The government should be cautious of caring its people. Thus it is necessary for the government to take every possible precaution against terrorism in order not to have further victims.
