The concept of 'collaboration through dialogue' was proposed in this study as a fertile context for making an educational change, and a professional development project was described and reflected on with a particular focus on collaboration between research/researcher and practice/teachers. The project is an on-going effort for a change inspired by the educational principles and philosophy of Reggio Emilia, by a team of one researcher/consultant and 4 Korean preschools and Kindergartens. Having introduced the working principles of the project as well as a brief sketch of the journey of more than 6 years, this study reflected on the project experience itself to note some changes in the nature of collaboration between researcher and teachers in three aspects: goal definitions, role negotiations and interpretation of the relationship between theory and practice. And the lessons that the author gained from the project experience as a researcher-collaborating-with-practitioners in a community of learners were discussed.
