This paper analyses Zhu-Xi's ‘li-yi-fen-shu’ with the metaphor theory based on experientialism. As a result, the following facts are found by the analysis. Firstly, Zhu-Xi's ‘li-yi-fen-shu’ is combined metaphor that is composed of a great number of sub-metaphors. The sub-metaphor of li-yi-fen-shu is mainly ‘family of man’, ‘mirror metaphor’, ‘container metaphor’, and ‘journey metaphor’. Secondly, ‘yue-yin-wan-tian’ verifies experientialism that an abstract project in metaphors brings about relative varieties despite the same nature in the experiential grounds. Thirdly, ‘family of man’ and ‘journey metaphor’ are appropriate for the axiological explanation. On the other hand, ‘mirror metaphor’ and ‘container metaphor’ are the most pertinent to the ontological explanation. This implicates that Zhu-Xi's ‘li-yi-fen-shu’ contains both ontological and axiological sides. In other words, Zhu-Xi's ‘li-yi-fen-shu’ itself implies the possibility of two-sided explanations.
