The Lao-tzu is not an easy text to read, translate, and interpret. Still, I believe that the problems with regard to the text and author of the Lao-tzu has not solved. According to the examination of Angus C. Graham, the legends of Lao-tzu in the Records of the Grand Historian reveals the complexity of the person, as an alledged author, that consists of legends originated from different sources. In this case we need to have an other approach to the Lao-tzu, the Lao-tzu text in itself, in particular, the personal pronouns. It resulted that the Lao-tzu was an text of the elite in ancient China, because the sayings of Lao-tzu normally addressed the ruling class about the issues of good government and social order.
