An aeronautical study and risk assessment is a study of an aeronautical problem to identify possible solutions and select a solution that is acceptable without degrading aviation safety. Risk assessment involves consideration of both the probability and the severity of any adverse consequences; in other words, the loss potential is determined. In carrying out risk assessments,it is important to distinguish between hazards and risk. This study is to research the criteria ranking risk frequency applied to risk assessment of ICAO and advanced States in the field of airport and to compare them with airport authorities’ standards in Korea, then to propose ‘risk frequency criteria’ to be applicable to Korea.
