In Korean, auxiliaries(supplementary predicate words) have different syntactic and semantic features from general verbs. For this reason, the description of auxiliaries in a dictionary should be different from the one of general verb.
In this paper, the issue about description of auxiliaries was pointed out. The issues can be divided into one about the macro structure and one about the micro structure. And through the comparison of the dictionaries, we looked at the perspective of each dictionary on the issues.
Also there are various types of auxiliaries, in this paper we examined two of them. The first is general the auxiliaries, such as ‘peorida’ and ‘itda’, that convey extra meanings or grammatical meanings and the second is the auxiliaries that came after a sentence ending marker, such as ‘sipda’ and ‘poda’.
This study can contribute to natural language processing and lexicography of Korean as a foreign language.
