The Journal of Korean Home Management, the official journal of the Korean Home Management Association, has continued its academic efforts to relate and integrate family studies, family resource management, child studies, consumer studies, and housing and interior design since 1983. The purpose of this study is to provide critical analysis of the journal and make recommendations for its further development. Specifically, we analyzed 434 articles published in the journal from 2011 to 2018, and conducted an empirical survey on the satisfaction of its contributors. Based on the evaluation criteria of the Korea Research Foundation and the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies, qualitative evaluation was also conducted on the journal. The results show that the number of the articles published in the journal has gradually increased. Most of the articles came from the fields of child and family studies, or were developed from master’s theses or ph.d. dissertations, which implies that the journal serves as a gateway for new scholars. In addition, the published articles are interrelated with conference participation. The analysis highlights the need to promote the publication of articles in relatively minor fields in the future. The survey results show a high degree of contributor satisfaction with the overall operation of the journal, especially for the rapid and efficient review process of the editorial board. Finally, according to the qualitative evaluation based on the criteria of the Korea Research Foundation and the Korea Federation of Science and Technology Societies, it is confirmed that the journal is evaluated positively in terms of operation, system, content, and contribution of research.
