The peculiarity of the hospital space is confusing to people due to psychological anxiety, being a vague new space, and a lot of information. Recently, many hospitals have presented their colors as a solution of these problems to solve psychological stability, clarity of space, and information order. Especially, it covers most of the information, communicates with visitors, and applies to a lot of colors to signs that play a key role in finding the way of space. In this paper, we analyze the real effects of the color application on signs in three university hospitals in Korea by five analysis criteria. And the method of improving the efficiency of sign color is presented through this analysis criterion. The five Analysis criteria are unity, distinctness, compatibility, aesthetic impression, and identifiability derived from previous studies, and we visited directly at each hospital, and analyzed. As a result of the analysis, it was impossible to find a hospital that meets all five criteria which were expected when color was applied, and most of the hospitals did not meet the criteria for distinctness. This paper suggests the color analysis standard of the general hospital sign system that was not clearly presented in the previous study. We can expect to contribute to the improvement of the color environment to solve the problems.
