This study intends to develop an emotional scale to support the interior color plan of the public library based in the emotions and needs of the patrons. We used 10 emotional terms and 12 color images obtained from previous studies. We conveyed a user evaluation and then analyzed the data using the Multidimensional Scaling method. As a result, we derived a two-dimensional pace: the first dimension refered to the scale of ‘concise – diverse’, and the second dimension explained the scale of ‘natural – functional’. In each quadrant, we observed similar images were clustered densely. However, the patrons participanted in the user valuation were necessarily the citizens where the target libraries were located. It is expected that a future study collect responses from actual citizens to apply the patrons’ opinions to color plan of public library.
