This study mainly discusses the relationship between segmental system and surface tone patterns for Korean Kyung-sang Dialect and the Chinese northern Wu dialect. It was found that, with regard to their “stress-like tone patterns”, the vowel system and vowel contrast hierarchy of those two dialects have nothing in common. Instead, Kyung-sang dialect and Wu dialect show the surface forms of tone with low density through the certain organic function, that is intrinsic interaction, of language.
