Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the correlation and influence among performance, physique, and physical fitness of young female snowboarders.
Method: We used the physique, physical strength, and comprehensive performance data of 36 girls aged 12 and 13 who participated in ‘Sport Talent’ from 2003 to 2016. SSPS / WIN Program Ver. 23.0 statistical package program was used to analyze according to research purpose. Descriptive statistic was used to examine the characteristics of the subjects, and correlation analysis was conducted to examine the relationship among physique, physical fitness and performance. And multiple regression analysis was performed to examine the causal relationships among the variables.
Results: The relationship between performance and physique was found to be higher when the chest circumference, thigh height, lower abdomen, and upper arm circumference were smaller. The relationship between performance and physical fitness showed a significant correlation in overall. back-up & sit-up, side step, back strength and high jump significantly influenced the excellent performance.
Conclusion: In order to improve the performance of young women’s snowboard players, it would be effective to apply a strengthening training program that focuses on improvisation (in-place vault), core power (sit-up, back-up) and dynamic balance. Muscle development of the femur and lower leg is also necessary, but unnecessary volume growth (fat increase) should be avoided.
