Most people usually ‘The next world’ that is two ways, go to heaven or hell of Christianity and reincarnation of Buddhism. But traditional Korean next world is mixed from Buddhism, Taoism, and Korean shamanism. Therefore, this research analysis preceding research analysis and intertext analysis because of affecting adaptation of past stories to the public box office hit from film named ‘Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds’ that has subject matter ‘Afterlifism’.
The goal of this research is how to be adapted the film that focused on traditional Korean next world from ‘Along with the Gods: the Two Worlds’. Also, how the film adapt characters and spaces of The Next World for touching people’s mind. Traditional narrative, ‘Chasabonpoori’, and webtoons, ‘Along with the Gods: The Next World’, ‘Along with the Gods: The Two Worlds’ have different narratives, characters but only same theme, ‘the Next World’. The film shows new, fresh and, reevaluation between people’s real life that traditional narrative does not have kings of spaces of the next world, punishments and spaces of the next world through imagination of writer from film and webtoon. Traditional narrative, film and webtoon have a lot of interrelationship like this from past to present. The story recreates new story and also, makes people interest keeping archetype, reevaluation of traditional narrative, adaptation of modern through familiar story. The film makes how people think, seek, agonize about their own life through ‘Along with the Gods’.
