The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of infrared irradiation on the reduction of shoulder pain and motion range of shoulders and elbows of the disabled ice hockey players. The subjects of the study were 15 hockey players of national disability in 2018 who have been working as a disabled ice hockey player for 3 years or more. Each subject has disabilities such as SCI, a leg amputation, and double leg amputation. To investigate the effect of infrared heat radiation on the reduction of shoulder pain and motion range of the shoulder joint of the subjects, we analyzed the physical changes of the athletes with the application of infrared radiation. Test items were ‘muscle strength(grasping power)’, ‘medicine ball throwing’, ‘infrared temperature’, and ‘joint motion range’. Each test item was divided into pre- and post-test of infrared heat radiation. Experimental results showed that infrared radiation increased the temperature of the shoulders and elbows of the ice hockey athletes with disabilities, which not only increased the range of motion of the shoulders but also decreased shoulder pain, And the grasping power of instantaneous power also increased. Therefore, infrared radiation is considered to be an effective method for resolving shoulder and elbow pain and shoulder joint movement caused by muscle skeletal problems for nationally represented disabled ice hockey players.
