In this study, four characteristics of children’s environmental needs, placeness, activity areas configuration, and classroom atmosphere were set as key elements for configuring the home environment, and the effect was verified by applying environmental changes to the 2 years old children class of child care centers. The comparison of the environment before and after the improvement of the class with the assessment tool resulted in a noticeable difference. Children"s environmental demands show increased mobility and sense of control. In addition, the integrated activity area was shown to be more functional and generally improved in terms of home atmosphere and placeness. The implications of the study are as follows: First, it was revealed that sufficient space was available to promote movement and the need for rest areas that could be provided as private areas was important. Second, the overall atmosphere of the class should be emphasized so that it can be more like home than other age groups. Third, rather than segmenting activity areas, they should be able to flexibly adjust according to the size of the space, and space should be provided to secure the entrance area so that parents, teachers and infants can meet and break up as social spaces.
