With the recent vitalization of nail industry, diverse nail products are released, and out of them, the nail sticker is a huge trend.
Even though there are lots of sophisticated and trendy designs, it is still hard to find the design that expresses the traditional beauty of Korea.
With a motif of Dancheong(traditional multicolored paintwork on wooden buildings) that could express the traditional, but fancy beauty, this study considered the concept and types of Dancheong through technical books.
This study designed four basic works of modern and creative nail stickers by extracting the image and colors of Dancheong focusing on the image of Dancheong of Botapsa Temple. By changing the colors, two-versions of the basic works were created, so that total eight works were produced.
WorkⅠwas named purity & grace while WorkⅡ was named spring flower & flower frame. WorkⅢ was named gorgeousness & modernity while WorkⅣ was named green string & yellow string.
This study aims to globalize the cultural heritages of Korea by designing nail stickers and then producing trendy stickers with a motif of Dancheong, and furthermore, it would be great if they could be developed as traditional cultural products.
