In Korean language, terms of address have correlation with relative honorifics per the relationships with the opponents. Therefore, analysis on terms of address must be represented in reference to relative honorifics as linguistics characteristics contained in usages of address terms. And it’s necessary to look at whether or not there’s a correlation between address terms and relative honorifics of ultimate endings within the resulting sentences
The studies on terms of address till date are targeted on classifying the categories of address terms, or stating the correlation between address terms and relative honorifics of ultimate endings within the consequent sentences while not explaining linguistics characteristics of usages of address terms. With a focus on ‘reference’－type address terms, this paper explains relative honorifics of address terms as linguistics characteristics within the usages of address terms and therefore the correlation between relative honorifics of address terms and relative honorifics of ultimate endings.
Address terms depend upon superior－interior relationships, acquaintance relationships, and variances(adult), not just to discriminate opponents in terms of the superior－inferior relationships with them. ‘Reference’－type address terms, embrace the cases during which honorifics of address terms in ‘reference terms’ don’t correspond to relative honorifics of ultimate endings within the resultant sentences. This results from vocative particles mixing with ‘reference’－type address terms. Vocative particles add intimacy to deal with terms by combining with ‘reference’－type address terms and cut back the extent of relative honorifics of address terms.
With the realities of modern times, less intimate address terms tend to be simplified to more intimate address terms. In alternative words, address terms used between the persons unrelated to every alternative are simplified to dealwith terms used between relatives so as to treat the opposite person intimately as relatives.
In this method, relative honorifics of ultimate endings within the resultant sentences area unit being simplified and relative honorifics with no formality area unit used, as address terms are being remodeled to people who are informal and categorical intimacy over time.
