This study analyzes the employment relationship of foreign and domestic workers in 154 cities and counties in nine provincial regions between 2008 and 2015.
As a result of applying the two-way fixed model, there was no statistically significant employment relationship between foreign and domestic workers in a whole sample. However, if the samples were to be estimated separately, it was confirmed that the more foreign workers, the more domestic workers in the cities, the less the number of domestic workers in the counties. In addition, according to age groups, as the number of foreign workers increases, the number of young people in the counties increases but the number of middle-aged people decreases.
In order to ease the weight gain of foreign workers in the city-county labor market, innovative countermeasures should be taken to create jobs for young workers in agriculture and fisheries and to induce the return of middle-aged people.
