The purpose of this study is to examine the current state of writing Chinese reading comprehension textbooks by extracting diverse quantitative data from 23 kinds of Chinese reading comprehension textbooks published in Korea since 2010. The quantitative data on 7 areas, that is, yearly publication scale, author’s nationality distribution, grade classification, text size, text type, contents of each unit and extra contents were analyzed In this study: the publishing scale is steadily decreasing from 2010 to the present; more than half of the textbooks published in Korea were written by foreign authors; intermediate level is the most published, followed by beginner and advanced; most of the textbooks adopting the 15 units; texts were most often composed of various contents; most of the textbooks contain exercises for each unit, and more than half of the textbooks contain new words and grammar explanations. In addition, it contains various contents such as Chinese culture introduction, reading training, text translation, Chinese pronunciation, key expressions, proper reading time and total number of characters, Chinese character knowledge, practice, vocabulary and idiom etc; most of the textbooks contain the answer of the exercises for extra contents. In addition, there are the interpretation of the text, the reading skill, the word index, how to use the textbook, the prior learning for reading, the use of Chinese punctuation marks, introduction to works and authors, texts for reading exercises, essential reading comprehension, and lecture schedule.
