RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology is used increasingly in logistics and supply chain management. Accordingly, R&D (Research & Development) on RFID became active in logistics industry due to its accuracy and accessibility for real-time supply information. The issue on materiel management based on U-Logistics system is raised in logistics area. Additionally, ROKAF (Republic of Korea Air Force) makes an effort to establish U-Logistics System based on RFID. In this paper, we propose a COO (Cost of Ownership) model for RFID system for the Air Force materiel management in order to assess the economic effect of RFID system. We also carry out the sensitivity analysis for the optimal procurement decision. It is expected that the result of our study can contribute to improve the logistics support capability of ROKAF and offer the information of an economic evaluation for new RFID demand in national defense areas.
