“Susik(首飾)”, as most formal and ceremonial hair style for royal women, had been variously used in investiture ceremony of the queen or Crown Princess. According to 『Chaekryedogamuigye(冊禮都監儀軌)』, the Susik were divided into Daesu and Geodoomi, and the quantity of Chaebal(髢髮) in Daesu were higher than Geodoomi. Various sizes of Heukgakjam(黑角簪) were used as an ornament for the Susik, the one used in Geodoomi were longer in length and contained more amount than in Daesu. Kinds and amount of Heukgakjam didn’t have a definite relationship in early 『Chaekryedogamuigye』. But after Chaekrye(冊禮) of Crown Princess In-seon, the amount of Binyeo had been decreased according to the decrease of Chaebal. After Chaekrye of queen Seon-eui, amount of Chaebal used for the queen and Crown Princess were same, but more Heukgakjam were used for the queen to differentiate the royal rank. Susik were packed with wrapping cloth with the box in great care, and the color of the box was different by the royal rank. Box for the queen was vermilion and black for Crown Princess. Size of box and wrapping cloth were decided by the royal rank rather than amount of Chaebal. In the same rank, size of the box and wrapping cloth were represented equally regardless of the amount of Chaebal. On the other hand, box and wrapping cloth of the queen were larger than those of Crown Princess even if the amount of Chaebal were same. Box for Daesu was larger than that of Geodoomi, and queen’s box was larger than Crown Princess’s box. Wrapping cloth for Susik was divided into first wrapping cloth that was used with oil paper and second wrapping cloth that were decorated with gold paper. According to first wrapping cloth that directly wrapped Susik, the cloth of Crown Princess was narrower and longer than that of queen. So, presumably, there was a difference between Susik of the queen and that of Crown Princess not only in scale but also in detailed form.
