Purpose: Mono-pitch, decayed and mono loudness are prominence speech features that Parkinson’s disease patients commonly complaint. There have been many studies tried to explain about these symptoms and they advocated those are due to impaired laryngeal function. But there also have had other findings that support other aspect of speech could influence on pitch and intensity. Speech production is very complicated and delicate process that many other part of muscles coordinate each other. Therefore, there would be other effects that are not involved in vocalization. Sentence length is related to breathing muscle and phonetic complexity is a component of articulation. Two factors are to be independent variables in order to find the possible causes that could affect pitch and intensity of patients who diagnosed Parkinson’s disease. Methods: Subject of this study included 16 Parkinson’s disease patients and healthy people as a control group. Each subject is asked to repeat 4 kind of sentences which have different length and phonetic complexity. pitch range, intensity and intensity range are measured. Results: There was significant difference in pitch range between the groups in all kinds of sentences. Intensity measurements are not significantly different between groups and sentences. Intensity range had same result with intensity figure except the sentence which is long can phonetically complex sentence. Conclusions: Pitch range was decline in 4 sentences. Also Parkinson’s disease patients significantly different performance in the sentence which is longest and most complicated to articulate.
