For the quality of customer experience and the successful hosting of the event, managing crowding and risk is very important. This study examined structural relationships among crowding, perceived risk, satisfaction, trust, and support at the Seoul Lantern Festival. To this end, an onsite survey was conducted for visitors to the festival site using convenience sampling method from November 12 to 15, 2011. A total of 344 were obtained from the survey and used for analysis. The results of structural equation modeling show that human crowding had a negative effect on perceived risk, whereas spatial crowding had a positive effect on perceived risk. Particularly, spatial crowding was found more important variable than human crowding in explaining perceived risk. Also, spatial crowding and perceived risk had a negative effect on satisfaction, whereas human crowding had a positive effect on satisfaction. Perceived risk and human crowding were stronger than spatial crowding in influencing satisfaction. Finally, satisfaction had a positive effect on trust which in turn, influenced support. The findings of this study suggest that spatial crowding, human crowding, and perceived risk are important constructs for successfully hosting the Seoul Lantern Festival. Based on the findings, practical implications were provided in concluding section.
