The purpose of this study is to find out the change that had happened to coffee shop(DA-BANG) in Korea. This study was carried out from enlightenment period to nation liberation and the subject of this study is the historical development of Coffee Shop in Seoul. At first, hotel coffeeshops were Daebul hotel, Sontag hotel, Chosun hotel, Bando hotel in this period. They were introduced from the western world and had influenced in coffeeshop development on various ways. The change to the culture of Da-Bang in the past was made in such various reasons as the situation of the items and cultural aspects. Da-Bang was used for meeting, communicating and negotiating foreigners. Also, Da-Bang was used as a culture space such as art exhibition and display. But Cafe had selled alcoholic beverages. It was different from Europe cafe culture. Nowadays, Coffee shop is not only drinking space, but also culture and rest space.
