Although much attention has been given to Chinese students in Korea, few studies have examined the relation between acculturation and their leisure activities. The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of leisure activities on acculturation of Chinese students in Korea. One hundred forty two mainland Chinese students at universities in Korea completed a questionnaire that included measures of level of acculturation, types of leisure activities, and demographic information. The data were analyzed using the PASW Statistics 18.0 software package. The factor analysis, reliability analysis, cluster analysis, one-way ANOVA, and t-test were applied to analyze the data. Cluster analysis has identified four distinct groups of Chinese Students in Korea, based on their preferred leisure activities, referred to as ``mass media preferrer``, ``indoor leisure preferrer``, ``outdoor leisure activity preferrer``, and ``sports leisure preferrer``. The set of factors, four types of acculturation, derived from a factor analysis, referred to as ``popular culture``, ``relations culture``, ``consumption culture``, and ``learning culture``. The results of study showed that the leisure activities had an influence on acculturation. The study revealed that economic activity also had an influence on acculturation in ``popular culture`` and ``relations culture``. However, each type of acculturation shows the different levels of relationships with preferred leisure activities. This research suggests that leisure activities can enhance cultural adaptation among Chinese students in Korea as well as the quality of their lives.
