The Silk Road can be divided into the steppe route, the oasis route, and 5 branch routes. The oasis route consists of the northern route and the southern route. The steppe route was developed by the Scythians in the 7th Century. The oasis southern route was developed by Zhang Jian during the reign of Emperor Mu of the Han Dynasty, and the oasis northern route was developed by Ban Cho during the reign of Emperor Ming of the Han Dynasty. Numerous wealthy merchants, Buddhist monks, and travelers used the Silk Road since the ancient times. The Silk Road, which was a trade route in the ancient times, is now a popular route for tourism. Today, a lot of travel agencies are developing and promoting traveling courses for visiting the Silk Road, for example, the Tian Shan Southern Route in China, the Karakoram Highway in Pakistan, the five Stan Countries, the Persian civilization course in Iran, the Middle East and Turkey. In my opinion, what needs to be done on the part of Korean travel agencies for the Silk Road travelling are: reinforcement of advertisement for the Silk Road traveling courses, development of full course of the Silk Road tour, development of various the Silk Road travel courses, developing travel courses in preparation for the opening of Afghanistan and Iraq, banning exaggerated advertisements. In addition, publishing travel guide books for the Silk Road region, restoring the Dunhwang Road, and extending the east end of the Silk Road to Gyeongju are also issues that should be addressed.
