The purposes of the study were to investigate the current conditions and needs of clothing, food, and housing of the elderly and to provide basic information for the future silver industry in Ulsan. The sample consisted of 463 elderly aged 56 and over, and the questionnaire survey was utilized for the data collection. The major findings are summarized as follows: (1) Elderly were interested in their clothes and they thought that clothes should reflect their images. Price was one of the major concerns when buying clothes. Traditional markets were the usual places for the purchase of clothes, and the elderly were more likely to wear western dresses rather than Korean traditional ones. This suggests that the marketing strategy for the elderly should be emphasized on the practicability and affordable prices. (2) Most of the elderly tended to have snacks besides regular meals and enjoy outside meals. Accordingly, a variety of snack and food based on elderly`s health needs and preferences should be developed. Also the results indicated that the elderly tended to depend on health supplemental food. So it is needed to provide appropriate information about health supplemental food. (3) In terms of housing, the elderly were more likely to egress positive opinions for the institutional facilities. Specifically, they preferred individual housing unit sized 21-pyung and over and consisted of bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room It was found that medical and food services were the most important in choosing facilities.
