The purpose of this study was to identify relationships among leisure satisfaction, subjective health, and overt aggression of people with disabilities. A panel dataset from the Korea Welfare Panel Study was utilized. 1081 people were selected for this study. They were registered in the Ministry of Health and Welfare as people with disabilities. Their levels of disabilities were from class1 to class 6. The data was collected from June 9, 2011 to August 15, 2014. To analyze the data for this study, autoregressive cross-lagged (ARCL) analysis was done. Research model fit indices such as x², df, TLI, CFI, RMSEA were suitable. Stata 13.0, and Amos 18.0 programs were employed for this study.
Firstly, as a result of autoregressive analysis, there were relationships among leisure satisfaction, subjective health, and overt aggression. Secondly, as a result of cross-lagged analysis, subjective health in the year of 2012 and leisure satisfaction in the year of 2013 was significantly related. Thirdly, there were significant relationships between subjective health in the year of 2013 and overt aggression in the year of 2014. Lastly, leisure satisfaction in the year of 2013 and overt aggression in the year of 2014 was significantly related.
The findings of 4 years of this longitudinal study indicated that the leisure satisfaction and subjective health of people with disabilities has positive impact on relieving overt aggression of people with disabilities. Thus, it is necessary to develop the more specific supporting programs based on the types of disabilities for people with disabilities to improve their physical and psychological aspects of their health and to reduce aggressive behaviors.
