This study aims to investigate the actual situation of using loanwords and foreign languages in the military, and suggest refined words for Japanese style terms or Western foreign language. Koreans have made efforts to refine loanwords constantly, but the results of the study about military terms are yet insignificant.
To refine loanwords successfully, the concept of refinement of military terms, selection criteria for loanword that has to be refined and the way of refinement were examined.
Then we selected loanwords that has to be refined for the earlier studies,surveys and articles on Army Headquarters' intranet. This study supplemented a lot of refined words and adjusted the recommended level. In addition this suggested to whole military to take a profound interest in refinement of loanword.
